Royal City Avenue is a fairly new nightlife area. I have never been there at night but have driven through when it first opened. It is not the easiest place to get to and appears to be for the younger generation with a lot of discos and trendy nightclubs. I stole some pictures off the Internet to show you what it looks like at night.
The Thai's enjoy their freetime so Bangkok is full of nightclubs, snooker parlors, movie theaters, etc. The Thai nightclub scene is pretty sedated compared to the nightlife scene for foreigners. Generally, it is dinner and dancing to songs being sung by famous Thai artists. Thai movie theaters are serious affairs. Kind of reminds me of what going to a movie was like in the 1950’s with huge beautiful and opulent theaters. All the latest Hollywood movies are offered, usually in two different formats. The English version has Thai subtitles while the Thai version has English subtitles. Not a bad way to get to know the Thai language.
In addition to theaters, several new malls have opened bowling alleys which appear to be doing quite well. If you want to do it, the chances are, there is a place to do it in Bangkok.
